Grouting 2" square stone wall tiles should I use a grout bag or float its on a blacksplash.?

It is on a ktchen backsplash 14" high - there is two rows of stones then a 4 inch stone design with 3 rows of stones on top. The stone are a off white porous stone. I was concerned that using the float would fill in the small holes in the stone, and be a real pain to clean up .

Answers:
The holes should be grouted in to stop a build up of germs but before grouting seal with lithofin stain stop/sealant over the whole tile and get a float squeagy and grout as normal.then wash off with a tiling sponge,if it is travertine tiles all the holes should be grouted or you will get an accumulation of dirt and germs,my fiancee is a tiler with 30 years experience and gave me this information
