What is the best way to remove a broken light bulb from a chandelier or stand without cutting yourself?
Answers:
Shut the power off and use a pair of needlenose pliers to get a hold of the rim and twist out. I've tried the "potato in the socket" thing and it's not very effective (maybe under ideal conditions but...).
Other answers:
insulated needle nose pliers.
insulated needle nose pliers.
unplug it...then cut a raw potato in half...put it on the broken light bulb and twist :)
I always heard that you should cut a potato in half, turn the lights off and use the cut end of the potato to press down on the light and twist the bulb out. Hope it works!
Kill the POWER to the light and use a pair of needle nose pliers.
Make sure the light is off and then - cut a potatoe in half; stick the open face side into the broken bulb and remoe it.
Make sure the power is switched off. Cut a potato in half. Jam the potato over the socket and twist out broken bulb.
First, turn the power off to the circuit from the circuit breaker box or unplug the light fixture. Then get several different kind of pliers including some "vise grips" if you have them. Grab the outer metal base of the bulb tightly and gradually work it around counterclockwise to unscrew the bulb. It might help to spray some WD-40 up into the socket first to make it easier to unscrew it.
get somebody else to do it
Turn off the power. Use the replacement bulb pressed into the old base and unscrew.
turn the light off then cut a potato in half then stick it in the light socket then wow you got it out without hurting your self
put foam under yourself, and wear elbow pads and a helemet. it could be fun
An alternative to the cut potato -
If you have a rubber bunjee cord, fold it in half and push it into the broken bulb. The rubber grips the edges and allows you to unscrew it quite easily.
