You would have to Google wood to find the density...

But, in my opinion, any wood that is "veneered", or, 1/8" thick, and bonded into layers, would be your best bet for strenght and durability.

Bass wood is light, as well as balsa.
Bass wood is straight grained, and balsa isnt as straight, but extremely light. (Both are used in models).
