Low Pressure After Hot Water Tank Install?

i just helped a friend replace his old cracked, electric hot water tank. Everything was pretty much the same except for one pipe which we replaced that went from the electric hot water tank out to a shut off valve.

After we finished, we turned the electric tank on and opened up the valve that goes from a smaller tank into the hot water tank. However, now there is no pressure build up. Nothing is leaking and the tank sounds like it's filling up. Any ideas?

Answers:
Could be the stem on the water shut off valve has snapped off/ twisted off and the valve is still really closed. Inspect it to see. Replace it if it is. This can and does happen often enough on old water valves. Good Luck.

This is quite common when old pipes are disturbed. It sounds like debris from the water supply may be blocking the flow. Try shutting off the water supply and draining the water from the tank.

Be sure all the air is out of the system and no particles have clogged the screens in the taps. Bleed all faucets to get the air out.
