I have never surrounded by my life used a oven. I replaced my older stove with a modern on that doesn't need a lighter to start fire. I get really scared when I tried turning on the over. After turning nob to 200 degree, this weird clap came and hot nouns blowed out. the oven smelled weird but it didn't smell close to gas.
Answers: you light the oven next to the "zap zap zap sound" then set to temp. It stinks because it have not been used in the past...once used the odor will go away..it is simply the smell of the "new" burning past its sell-by date...try running it for about 1/ 2 hours past putting food into it...you don't want that flavor in your food.
