I'm trying to cover a lid for a foot stool, how do I go around the corners?

My husband made a foot stool with a lid. I want to cover the lid and need help with the corners. I'm hoping someone can give me a step by step way to do it or can direct me to a site that can.

Answers:
If your stool is rectangular, do the long sides first. Do the short nails or tacks, starting at the middle, making sure your material stays straight and tight. But don't put the tacks all the way to the corners. Then do the short ends the same way. The corners are pulled tight and tucked, kinda like making a bed. Good luck; it'll look great!

Other answers:
Just use tiny folds and either tack, staple, or glue them down as you go.

with cloth?? if so, its kind of hard to explain... but you can use a heavy duty stapler and kind of fold the edges over so that it doesn't pucker. sorry wish i could explain better.
Here is a site showing in detail how to upholster a chair seat. If you scroll down near the bottom, it tells you how to put the seat cover on. That would be pretty much like putting a cover on a stool lid, it seems.
