I've never seen a piece of lumber that long. You might be better off with 2x4's, doubled up and staggered, than with trying to link two 4x4s together.
Get four 12' 2x4s. Lay 2 of them end-to-end and flat. Place a third in on top of them, in the middle, so that 6' overlaps on each, and screw them together. Cut the last one in half, and use the two 6' pieces to finish out the length.
You can also do it with six 8' pieces, but you're probably better off with the 12' ones.

any lumber yard should have it including home depot and lowes

thats awful heavy but you can try home depot ot lowes and if they arent handy try your local hardware store and wouldnt PVC be easier to use and more moveable? it attaches easily and the netting will wrap around it better

Aren't the goals made of pipe or tubing ? That would be easier to splice. Pipe comes in 21' lengths standard.
Any piece of lumber that is only 4" deep is going to sag over that distance. If your set on constructing it out of wood, the description of doubled up 4x4's is best. I would bolt them together rather than using screws. The head and nut of the bolt should be counter-sunk and make sure you use washers.
The home depot does have this length. If they are out of stock you can have it the next day in most cases.
