Why do I have to use grout when tiling a floor?
Answers:
Grout is used for 2 purposes: 1)sealing between the tiles (use a grout sealer after applying the grout. So if you spill 3 gallons of raw sewage on your floor, it wont work its way to the subfloor.....and
2)it looks good and there's a lot of color selection.
In reality, its not needed and you could but the tiles together and use a clear silicone to seal the gaps.
Or you could use honey and duct tape...but that's not very aesthetically pleasing, is it?.
Other answers:
Because the tiles will expand and contract with environmental conditions. The space between the tiles gives them room to do this and the grout is formulated to work with this. Which would you rather do?
1 - regrout after so many years or
2 - replace cracked tiles every year.

BECAUSE IF YOU DONT...ALL KINDS OF TINY THINGS WILL GO IN BETWEEN AND ANYTHING LIQUID WOULD JUST STAY IN THE OPEN SPACES....YOU GOTTA USE IT...OR YOULL NEVER HAVE A CLEAN FLOOR
to allow for expansion
