I have a question for Mr. Tool man, what should I do?

I have an area (country) that is approx. 300' x 300'. The ground is not flat, and very rocky. Last fall I cut approx. 100 trees down to a height of four feet, harvesting the tops for fire wood. I am clearing the land so as to raise goats on part of it, and part for an orchard. My original idea was to rent an excavator and rip the stumps out to burn them, thereby minimizing the disturbance with the land. A bulldozer was not the right ticket because it would dig up all the boulders in the process. We were desirous of keeping the terrain as natural as possible. A friend suggested Stump Be Gone, but all the blogs we get on that product were negative; mainly being more trouble than it was worth and very time consuming to boot. Then stump grinding and or torching the stumps were other options mentioned; more rental stuff. Even after the stump is grounded down, they still want you to torch the roots. We are at a loss in determining the cheapest and most effective route to take.

Do you mean Tool Man Taylor? Well anyway....In the good ol' days they dug the stump up. That's a whole bunch of work. Today the stump is ground below the earth level. If the roots sprout cut it off until the tree gives up and totally dies because it needs sunlight to flourish. One tree is hard work, so in your case it's100 times more work for you. The goats might help on that section to keep the shoots down if they aren't too picky about what they eat. My opinion is goats only destroy what you want to preserve. Good luck and try to stay away from chemicals and etc. Depending on the size, a backhoe might be able to help.

Have you thought about blowing them up? you might have to fill in the blast holes but i know it works. I worked with some miners who cleared stumps that way. Either hire it out of be very careful after you do your home work. good luck

Tell everyone you have found a way to cross marijuana with the tree. The DEA will take care of it.
Check at your local tool rental outlet for a stump grinder. This will allow you to grind the stump down below grade (and is alot easier than digging)
Rent a back hoe pull them up pile them in a pile have a wiener roast good luck.
Cut the stumps off right at the ground and then let what is left just rot into the ground.
