Any suggestions on getting rid of?

toad stools that are growing in my yard. They are there because of a dead tree root, was like this when we bought the house. Previous owners planted grass over the dead roots, the grass is beautiful, this is why we never had them remove the roots. My question is .. is there something I can put on these other than insecticides. Something that won't harm the beautiful lawn, but get rid of the toad stools.. Plzzzzz help..

Answers:
I have used salt, Table salt and even rock salt to rid away the ice from driveway.. Try splitting the wood base and spread generously the salt.. then lightly spray some water on it. You may not see a difference until a couple of days. Good Luck!

Frist: do not use insecticides! They aren't insects! they are fungi.
They are there to decompose the tree root . Rake them off , try not to over water , they will eventually go away!
I see that you don't want to use insecticides, thats fine cause they will not work. However, there are fungicides on the market that may help you problem more rapidly than naturally drying the area. I have not used them for shrooms before, but they have worked great for other fungi problems I have had.(brown spot, and rot). These products are availible at most hardware stores.
