I want to paint the front of my house....?

Can anyone recommend a platform I could hire (preferably) to get to the high up bits? I don't like the idea of a ladder - it's prooved unstable in the past.

Answers:
scaffolding is too expensive for 1 house front,go to either speedy hire or a local hire firm and get an alloy tower, they are sturdy, they have out riggers, and you can move them by urself, they go really high aswell, well it will allow you to reach the gutter on an ordinary house, im a decorator and use them the time, dont waste ur money on anthing else, and if you hire on a sat morning you get sunday for free, and always start at the top and then go down, i know its common sense but ud be suprised

Scaffolding
Scaffolding
Scaffolding if you can, however if you have money to blow, buy one of those crane things which has the person bit where u can stand in, and get someone to control inside of it!

As for the paint, if you live in Australia i would highly reccomend getting expert advice from Bunnings Warehouse!

GOODLUCK :):)
If you cannot afford to hire someone else to paint your house for you, then you probably cannot afford scaffolding. My husband makes a scaffold by running a board between 2 A-frame ladders. Two ladders are more stable than one, but I doubt you will like this answer.
If you have the money, try a cherry picker.

Hi there

don't use a ladder

if your house is single-storey, buy some staging or an allow tower. These come apart into pieces you can store in the garage and use again next time

if it is a tall house, hire some help. compare the amortized cost over ten years with the pain of falling from that height!
You can rent a bucket lift (cherry picker), or ladder jacks which you install on two ladders and put a platform across. My guess is if you don't like ladders, neither will you like going up high on any of the suggestions you get. Why not paint all the parts of your house that you feel comfortable with, and hire a professional painter to do the high stuff. I've done it for customers before.
