homesteading property - What States and/or areas are available for Homesteading?

My wife and I are interested in Homesteading. Are there any available lands for homesteading? What states and areas? We would appreciate any info anyone can give.

As far as I know, only Alaska in the USA. However, Canada still has alot of territory available for homesteading. As far as I know, its open to all-comers.
