Whirlpool Mode ACQ184XMO - Only 1 fan speed. Looking for help to diagnose problem, and repair myself if it isn't a major part. Unit is 3+ years old. Compressor seems ok. Would it be the fan or the control unit ? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check or have the fan speed switch checked. From your description,most,not all but most of the time, I have found that to be the problem.

The selector switch commonly goes out on this model. Either replace switch, or switch fan speed wires to increase fan speed
