Attic fan? When to use it?

The attic fan sucks in air from outside which in turn moves the air in the house. I hate using my attic fan in the summer cause it just brings in the hot air which I already have. We use our attic fan in early spring or fall when the air outside is much cooler.
Try using just the A/C in the room you are in. Run the den ac during the day and the bedroom ac at night. Hosing your house off after sundown helps too. I just spray water on my bricks outside. It really helps. m

Wow...I live in SE Texas and I sympathize. Yes, turn the attic fan on...is it the kind that just empties the attic of air, or does it suck air out of the house and then out of the attic? If the former, run it always. If the latter, run it at night. Only condition the air of the rooms you use. We use a dehumidifier as well as our central air unit and it makes a HUGE difference in our bill.

Put the fan on a switch that senses temperature. When the temp in the attic gets to some limit you set, then set it to turn on. A simple thermostat switch will do. You will have to mess with the setting. This should help keep your attic at the temp of the outside. And reduce cooling lost to heat transfer via the cieling.

yes definitely it will take Lot's of heat out of your attic making your house cooler. Make sure it has a thermostat!
