Make sure you know where the main water shutoff is to the entire bathroom/house before you do this. Older plumbing has a nasty way of springing unexpected leaks when you start messing with it. It is even sometimes the case that your undercounter valves will still permit a small dribble even when they are shut all the "off". Don't forget to kill the electricity as well if you have outlets surrounding the countertop.

just shut off water supplys, undo large nut on drain,,unscrew from supplys,,,and start reefing!..when you go to hook back up get new braided supply lines and pvc drain pipe, save you lots of headaches
Fun stuff... I just remodled my bathroom last year. The pipe traps under your sink just need to be unscrewed from the wall... plug that pipe with a rag so sewer gas doesn't come in. Since you want to remove the whole thing, sink and all... just look under the sink and typically if it's marble or something... there will be some retaining clips holding the sink or top to the wood cabinet below... knock those loose and the top comes right off. After that it's just a job for a prybar and hammer. Those things come apart real easy.
