Do portable nouns conditioners work OK? What are the advantages/disadvantages as compared to a pane component?
Answers: room units are cheaper, use that. a portable is resembling 350, while a one room ac can be had contemporary for 79 bucks.
a couple of yrs ago i paid something like 200 usd for a electric "swamp cooler" type ac, it didnt cool diddly squat!

Sure they work, depending on their BTUs, just similar to window unit.
Advantage - They can easily be moved to another location and set up in principle easy.
Disadvantage - They require vent (they usually come with a vent kit) and some models have reservoirs that collect the condensation and they compress up and have to be empty occasionally or they will overflow

stick with a polite thru the wall or window element.
Don't use either. You would be better bad putting in a ductless system. It will cost somewhat more but it will be a lot more well-run. It would also be a lot more barely audible. For more info go to the ductless ac page here.
For a small room approaching that I would just turn with a windowpane unit it is the most ecnomical.
