Replacement exterior doors 34 inches wide-ranging located surrounded by South Carolina - current or salvage surrounded by perfect shape?
Answers: This is the only time I can remember disagreeing beside the DIY guru "Doc" but if it was me I would walk to HD or Lowes and order exactly what I looked-for. I would get a prehung exterior door to my exact specs. I enjoy found that they are not any more expensive (for the most part) and the item I love about HD and Lowes is that they will stand astern their products. I have never have a problem returning an item or having it replaced. Although I stir through the pro desk this is true for any customers.
Good luck
PS: If you have time to run adjectives over the place looking for a door you may be able to find one cheaper. But if your time is worth $$, similar to mine is, then you pick up $$ in the long run by a one stop 30 minute command!! If they were cost prohibitive they wouldn't be selling adjectives the doors they are!!
You can special order custom sizes (34") at your nearest building center (Home Depot, Lowes, etc). Expect this to run several weeks.
Prehung is your best bet, since any slab doors may not fit perfectly flush against your door frame due to possible warp of the existing frame and/or door. You can get wood, metal, or fiberglass and surrounded by general the most minuscule energy rationalized is wood, followed by metal and then fiberglass. If you are surrounded by a humid or coastal area of S. Carolina I would recommend the fiberglass because it will not warp, rot, or split and can be ordered/finished to look approaching wood or metal.
