Good advice given except for the converter/inverters answers. Forget them. You need an electrician to put in a dedicated line. Dedicated means that only one machine is hooked to the line and a breaker controls it. You also mentioned another good answer. How old is your dryer? If it is over 7 years old it would be more cost effective just to buy a gas one...that is if you have gas already installed.

Other answers:
buy a converter.. U could find one of those in any hardware store or like electric stores n stuff..

You can get an adapter. Check out Home Depot or someplace like that. I did that with my dryer too.
All you can do is run 220 down there.
Radio Shack sells international AC convertors that will do the job for you BUT keep in mind, there's nothing like the real thing, and operating a high energy appliance that demands 220v darn well needs it.
buy a universal adaptar.
Having a new outlet installed from the circuit breaker box is about the only way. Even if you used an inverter to raise the voltage up to 220V from a standard 110V outlet, there wouldn't be enough amperage to power the heating coil. Electric dryers use a lot of electricity and it is necessary to have at least a 30 amp circuit.
Don't buy a converter. Your electric dryer requires a 30 amp 220 volt circuit that needs to come directly from the panel. Hire an electrician or handy man to run a dedicated circuit with #10 AWG wire to a Dryer receptacle for you.
You should have a 220v outlet installed by a professional electrician. If installed incorrectly, it could cause a fire.
An electric dryer uses a lot of power, and it might not be safe to use any kind of adapter. You need to put it on a separate circuit to meet code, I think. It's a pain to buy a new dryer, but a gas one is nice if you have a gas connection.
You need a step up transformer.
don't get an adapator.. get an electrician - do it right!!
u just need a transformer that convert from 110 v to 220 v and its cost about 8 $ only in us
You hit it, you'll have to have an electrician wire a 220v service for the dryer or get a gas dryer. Oh, I just thought, you could tie up some lines in your basement and hang your clothes on the lines to dry.
get an electrician to run a new circuit for it, u don't wanna screw around when it comes to major appliances.
Call an ELECTRICIAN
Need to run new cables gauge #10, separate double throw breaker 30 A and work to be done by an electrician.
