Hmmm...... tough to know without knowing what material they are made of...some materials yes......and some no. Are yours the blinds with louvers that hang vertically on a track , or do the louvers hang horizontally, all joined by strings on each side ?

You can successfully dye a natural fibre like cotton, wool, or linen, but I doubt the venetians are made of this. This would be best done in the bathtub, or laundry sink or big plastic tub.

Synthetic fibres don't take dye well, and that's probably what you have. If you're going to throw them out if it doesn't work, then give it your best try, I guess.

I have seen people paint their blinds if they are made of fabric or vinyl or metal, you just have to buy the right can of spray paint, there's some that are all-purpose and some just for metal, best place to look is a craft store or paint /hardware store. If you're going to try painting, then take the blinds down and lay them on sheets of newpaper, and paint outside because of the over-spray and the noxious fumes. Take care not to paint out in direct sunlight, find a cooler shady area.

I would not try to make a design statement or focal point with them, either paint them to match the trim around the window, or match them to the wall colour. To soften the side edges of the blinds/windows, hang simple store-bought curtain panels in the same colour.

Good Luck, I hope they turn out great for you !! Sandra M

If you are talking about plastic venetian blinds, no you cant dye them. If you are talking fabric, its possible, but the results may be awful Depending on the fabric they are made of..if there is any polyester or nylon, or synthetic fabric in them they wont absorb the dye. Plus...where do you get a tub big enough to dye them in? Wouldn't chance it
Died...? oh "Dyed"...
well..If it weren't for venetian blinds, it'd be "curtains" for all of us! LOL...
sorry...

All the blinds I've seen are either metal or wood, & if they are those, I'd say no. Synthetic vertical ones won't "take" a dye. .
But for painting, you'd probably have to dip them in a tub of paint. Then you'd have to clean the tub out! WHAT A MESS! I wouldn't bother.

When I didn't like mine (in a rental), I'd just go to Pier One or Cost Plus, and buy bamboo or rice-paper blinds to replace them while I lived there. The rice-paper blinds came in cerise (dark pin), dusty blue, and other colours. and they're pretty cheap too!
