Will touch oil lamp still work if spray painted?

Previous owners left at the rear a brass touch lamp that have attractive lines, but brass will not match our décor. If we spray paint it, will the touch factor still work? I tried Google, and the only related entry I found give no definitive answer. I want to paint it black. Has anyone tried this?
(I realize we could just experiment since it be a freebie, but if I can find out for sure it won’t work we’ll just use it contained by my husband’s office where on earth I don’t have to see it.)

Answers:    it will not because surrounded by a touch lamp the grounds it changes when you touch it is you are the ground to the metal. the electronics senses the touch to the metal. if you paint it you will not be touching the metal directly. be off a spot on the back or on the shade unpainted and you can touch it within that spot
Not sure.

You could A) buy one at like goodwill and interview it out. or B) just do it and see what happen or C) just afford it to your husband.

If you really really like it try A first. If it's not that big of a business deal just confer it to your husband. Really no point in ruining a pious lamp if it works obedient.
I guess it depends on how the lamp is made. I own spray painted one and it did work. I guess it also depends on the type of paint you use.
