Insulation of a ground floor flat?

I want to insulate the floor of my ground floor flat. The only leeway I have at the moment is to put some boards on the ceiling surrounded by the basement underneath. The problem is that the floor is wooden (it is 100 aged building). Does anyone know what materials I should use to get the best effect?


Answers:    Kingspan on the crypt ceiling, or put rockwool insulation up before you board the ceiling.
Pack the insulation surrounded by between the floor joists, put up a vapor line of defence as well, and afterwards board it over.
I would use paper back fiber glass between the floor joist, paper side out, the quality newspaper is the vapor barrier. You can even staple building plastic over the insulation for added insulating virtues.
Another option is a radiant balustrade covered foam or bubble insulation. The radiant barrier will block grill and act as a vapor enclosure, the foam or bubble insulation has better R Values than fiberglass, and it will also fit right in between the joist.
Try Airtec Double available from Screwfix website or can be cheaper on eBay. Strong plastic airbubbles with foil coating. I hold used it to secondary insulate my loft. Attached it next to an electric staple gun & sealed the join with aluminium foil cartridge.
