Answers: capably the best solution is a piece of string and a hook
screw the hook into the ceiling
drill a hole in the door and loop the string through
when you want to hold the door sympathetic simply put the string onto the hook, ta dah
the poorer solution is a piece of wood or metal
cut it to length and jam it contained by the hole when you wish to hang on to the door open.
when you own finished simply knock the wood out of the way
alternatives are
seize a friend to hold the door whilst you access the aforementioned space, simply asking them to release the door will allow its closure under the influence of gravitational force, i am making the presumption that you are on land and not in a 0 g environment
will the doors off, access is effortlessly gained beneath this condition
use sliding doors
cut a hatch in the ceiling so that when you decision to open the door the hatch is also lift. allowing the door to go into the ceiling and be moved by >180 should allow it to stay surrounded by that position until you have completed your errand
car boot gas struts also kind sturdy stays with that calming whoosh sound as they expand and close
you could just look on the web instead
full strip of hinge usually bout 2ft in length and partially inch wide and fit short stay available from wicks or homebase or b and q
