i have a 3 phase overhead door opener wired for 460, can i wire this motor for single phase 220?
Answers:
If you could find a power converted to take your 220 and put it into 3 phase for you you can still use the motor. But there is no way to run a 3 phase on 220. It will probably be cheaper to just buy a 220 motor unless you find a killer deal on the converter on E-bay or something.

Simple answer is, "NO WAY!". That will never work, simplest fix is to change the motor to a 220 single phase.

there is no way to make a 3 phase motor single phase. You could buy a device (not sure what it is called right now) that will provide you with 3 phase.
dear god you sound as bad as my hubby, please oh please throw that junk away and buy a new one, it's not going to make the guys in the neighborhood envy you any more than they already do!
and yes i agree w/the guy above, three phase cannot be just rewired for single phase. a phase converter or generator is VERY expensive, replace the motor if the unit is scaled for a particular door unit. otherwise just get a new one!
Can't do it. but new motor 220 single phase.
no-can-do. 3phase motors are completely different than single phase ones. They will turn on single phase but slowly and not for very long. Your only option is to change the motor to a single phase motor of the voltage you have available(220/240)
