PS: I agree beside Doc about have another person backing you. In fact, you should own another person around anytime you are working on a stepladder, roof, scaffolding or anywhere you could potentially fall bad. Just good adjectives sense safety!

Either use a tower gibbet (from a hire shop) or use professional scaffolders.

Getting injured isn't worth the risk.
