Dying a rug for a custom look?

I have a rug design surrounded by mind for a tiled room, but I merely can't find anything I like. Is it possible to grasp a plain-colored rug and dye it in pattern to make it look how I want? If so, what open-handed of dyes would I use to make sure it wouldn't rub sour or wash out? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Answers:    What about taking a sisal rug and fine art an image on it fairly than dying a regular rug? or use a floor cloth.

Reason being is that sometimes you don't know the exact fiber content of a rug - respectively material take dye differently and some not at all and most are blends anywayy. You will obtain either erratic results or a situation where on earth it bleeds way too much.

I own seen population install wall to wall and use several different colors of rug together, just inlaid.
This may not answer but a while wager on I called a professional rug cleaning company and asked nearly dying carpeting. They said they stopped doing that because the results were too unpredictable.
you can grasp a plain rug and dye it but most dyes will run if it gets raining. Try this website www.shawfloors.com and click on the area rugs tab. they own several different area rugs to choose from. You can dy a piece of hearth rug as well and own it bound into an area rug but I dont enjoy any answers as how to not get the dies to run together. Most nouns rugs ard dyed before the filament is put into backing.
