lumbersizeforshed?

this is for the rafters- shed is 12x12

Answers:
No,2x6 are illegal for rafters, you need at least 2x8,and depending where you live there may be other building codes to follow.Look up your local town hall and check the codes. If you're asking what the length of the rafters should be...that would depend on the pitch of the roof. What's the pitch?

Other answers:
2x6's should work.
2x6's should work.
2X4's will be sufficient if this is ridgepole construction. IF flat roof, 2x6's. This is a shed, folks, not a home...has a 12' span...nothing to worry about. And, trusses are made of 2x4's...let's don't build a mansion here, it is a SHED. Good luck
2x4s Good grief you would need a crane to pick them up if they were made of 2x6s. It is a shead.
one word question thats new lol
anyway i would use 2x4s whether legal or not
but u may wanna go ahead and use 2x6s if u get a lot of snow
(or if u wanna be legal i aint sure about your building codes there)
2x4 rafters, 2x6 ridge, and dont froget 2x4 collar ties, one atleast every other set of rafters. helps keep everything from falling outward
