am having problem with my mig wire welder, it blows my fuses after a short minute, can anyone help.?

is a chicago electric i bought from harbor freight, i need the specs on it or how to repair it. thanks

Answers:
The circuit you are using must be rated for the load your welder places on it. While you are welding, you shouldn't be using the circuit for anything else.

If you are trying to use an extension cord with your welder, your cord may not be able to handle the load. Generally tools like welders should not be used with any kind of extension cord.

Know your welders' duty cyle rating. If it says 50%, you can't use it continuously - you've got to let it cool down.

In any event, your welder is over taxing the electrical service that it's hooked to. The fuse is doing what it's supposed to and is blowing so your house/garage/building does not catch on fire.

Victor Are the fuses that you are using strong enough for the welder
check your wiring and fuses to make sure they can carry the load, DO NOT just change the fuses to a higher rating or your insurance will not replace your burned down structures!!
If your welder is rated for 120v then make sure that you are using a 20 amp circuit (dedicated). This means that when you are running that welder make sure that there is nothing else on that fuse/breaker except that welder, and remember that welders have cycle times, which means you can run it for 15 mins. and then let it sit for 20 mins. before you can run it again.
