are ikea matteresses the same size as standard uk matresses?

Ikea beds and mattresses are all standard European sizes, which tend to be a few centimetres larger. The reason for this is to keep costs low as the UK is different from the rest of Europe. Should special bed sizes and mattresses be made for just the uk, the prices would be much higher.
That said, if you are not looking to buy a new bed, rather just replace the mattress, then Ikea also sell a limited range of UK size mattresses in the larger stores.
