Should I use sharp sand or builders sand for a mortor bed under paving slabs?
What type should be used for the pointing between the slabs?
Answers:
if bedding on concrete sub-base use soft sand, if your lay directly on hardcore you will need 3"-4" bed of sharp sand.
both unmistakably mixed with cement.
if you lay you fresh slabs tightly together as they should be laid there will be no want for unnecessary pointing. just sweep within a dry sand and cement mix. the weather will do the rest....
