Does anybody have suggestions for a drive in movie theme parade float?
Answers:
A king size white bed sheet stretched on a wooden frame would work, but I wouldn't even bother with a movie. If I was directing this task I'd have kids in clothing appropriate to a past decade. I'd have a sham snack stand, I'd dress some kids as typical characters, one used to see in Drivein B type movies. Have lots of popcorn to throw, have music playing from the scene.
Yep I'd make that entire thing to look similar to "Grease"

sure... it's going to cost some $$, but you could get a VHS tape burned onto a DVD (or if you just have a dvd...even better). then, you'll need a laptop that allows you to play dvd's and a huge projection screen to use as the actual screen.
when i read your question, this was my thought:
a float with the car visible about 3/4 of the way towards the back. create the "screen" at the very front of the float. between the screen and the hood of the car you should make a parking lot space. create a couple of standing "radio" speakers on each side of the float. maybe add a couple of trees on the sides of the screen to give it the outdoor look. sounds fun!!
have fun and good luck!

Gidday,
I don't think you can beat the theme from the movie "Grease"
Remember the scene when Danny and Sandy at the Driven.
Go to a second hand op shop and buy cheap black leather jackets for the guys. Buy black T Shirts then make your own stencil out of cardboard and spay in white spray paint (normal spray paint does the trick) T Birds on the front.
Get the girls to dress up as The Pink Lady's and Sandy.
For the Driven Movie Screen, buy a cheap white roll down blind.
To play a VCR you can run the power though your car cigarette lighter with a power adaptor.
Don't forget to make cut outs of Hot Dogs. Popcorn and Choc Tops.
Have Fun!
