I am going to replace to my old honeywell thermostat ( have mercury vail in it) to a RiteTemp digital thermostat. When I removed the antiquated thermostat, I notice that the out-of-date thermostat connected with red and white flex only. However, the thermostat cable have 4 wires which are red, yellow, white and blue! What does it mingy? I checked with the installation instruction manual and internet, they just transmit you connect with Red to R, sickly to Y, green to G and so forth. What about the blue one? Nothing is mentioned! What should I do next to the BLUE wire? I couldn't find the information or lend a hand guide relating to R,W,Y,B wiring combination diagram . How should I connect the RiteTemp digital thermostat to the existing wires.
I own no idea what type of furnace install contained by the attic. For one thing is it is gas heated.

Dint panic, most thermostat chain run has extra cable in it to be used for differ model of HVAC element.
ex:different speed controls, fresh air dampers etc.
If u really want to be sheltered contact a HVAC pro.
Well, if the old thermostat just used the red and the white, then simply hook up the red and the white to the new one. For peace of mind, you could be in motion up into the attic and see if the blue and yellow wires are even hooked up to anything, which they probably are not.
Since you with the sole purpose have gas boil only connect the red and white.
