What is the best way to hang a heavy mirror? Are there any good step-by-step resources on-line? Thanks!?
Answers:
Of course, the best way to hang anything heavy is to drill a wall anchor into a stud, and hang your hook that way. There is a way to hang heavy mirrors and pictures that may not be supported by an anchor or two, or possibly you have older walls that have plaster over the framing which makes it nearly impossible to hit a stud. You install (using drywall anchors) a strip of wood (predrilled with a countersink) onto the wall, and another to the back of what you are hanging, then attach the two. That way you have a bigger area to support the weight, and all should be fine. Good luck!
