What's the best way to cut paneling without splintering it?
Answers:
Sharp carpenters knife or utility knife. Tapeing it where you cut might help too, but shouldn't be necassary if your knife is sharp enough.

fine tooth saw for paneling
cut with a real fine blade..(paneling). that in it's self..will help on the splintering.(and cut from the back side)..have even seen it taped and cut thru the tape
Put tape over where your going to cut
If you mean wood paneling; you need a fine tooth saw. Place masking tape over the cut area. Mark your actual cut line on the tape and cut through the tape. The tape should prevent splintering if you have a good saw and do not force the saw through, i.e. push too hard.
when using a skill saw get a fine tooth plywood blade,you won't have the wood splinter.
Take a hand saw, put the good side of the paneling up and only push the saw down to cut, don't pull.
Use bluetape, mark the measurement and cut.
Make sure blade is sharp.
this will sound funny but it works, Wherever you want to cut at, place tape on it and cut the tape, it holds it all together, and its a cheap thing to do.

if you are using a skill saw, cut with the good side facing down, and if you are using a table saw cut with the good side facing up. make sure that the saw blade is sharp, and also make sure that the blade is set just deep enough to make the cut through the paneling....good luck
