Does anyone know how to replace the trap under my kitchen sink?
Answers:
First, look to see where they are leaking, i.e. which joints. If it is leaking by the basket. where it hooks up to the sink itself, it is the tailpiece washers.
If it is leaking from the basket, then you need to replace the strainer washer or the whole strainer...which is easier.
If it the nuts that connect em, get the compression rings, which will be inch and a half...all kitchen drainage is inch and a half. No glue is used in these because they have to be able to be pulled apart.

Go and see.. there should be rubber silicon where the joints are.
Chcek it out. Somewhere that is loose. I would have bought new and take the old one out and replace it as per instryction (as bubble gum.. put it around everywhere where there are joints, but all the joints should be dry).
Those days plummers have easy job, the pvc pines usually click to each other and on top they use rubber silicon, say white or see through.
maybe due to movement the actual; PVC is broken so you will have to take it to hardware shop to buy new one.

Tighten the LockNuts with Channel locks and recaulk it , if this doesnt help you might need a new sink..i just had one reinstalled because of the overflow drain rotted..good luck
You know, I'd call a plumber. They do the dirty work and I sit back and watch! That's the way I'd go.
You should be able to repair it with new compression fittings.. it is PVC, so it is cheap and the size is more than likey a standard one caried at a hardware store. If you have a digital camera, take apicture of it and go to Home Depot or Lowe's. Look on the pipe and see if you can see a size on it-- 1 1/4, 1 1'2, or one inch probably.
Not a hard thing to do-- there will be water in your trap once you take it off, but it is nothing to worry about.
They don't use glue. They simply have 0-rings that seal them up. Turn the water off to the sink. Tighten the washer things down hard. They've probably gotten loose from vibration from your disposal. Check for leaks. Still leaking? Unscrew and examine all the washers and O-Rings. Replace the O-rings if they're worn.
Lowes or home depot has the PVC pipes for your drain..(Take your old ones with you to make sure that you get the right pipe!) and their easy to install... just remember those o-rings!
