Immersion Heater Tank - Why is it domed at the bottom?
Answers: Your hot river storage cylinder (immersion heater tank) is subjected to dampen pressure, either from the cold marine tank surrounded by the roof if you have what is call a vented system or from the D water supply if you hold an unvented system. A domed surface can withstand this pressure better than a flat surface. The top of your cylinder is also domed for this reason. If it be flat, when under pressure, it would try to distort into a domed shape. This is also the motivation why large circular buildings similar to St. Pauls Cathedral have domed roofs. Imagine what would transpire to a boxed shape football if you tried inflating it. (perhaps not so bad, it might administer Pompy a better chance)
