Aerating - How do the HOLES get filled back in?
Thanks
Answers:
Its true, they will reassimilate themselves back in the soil after a few good rains.
You can rent the machine and do it yourself, and yes, it will look unsightly for a bit, but, it will help the lawn tremendeously.
Personally, if you had golf shoes with long spikes, then thats what I would use to cut the grass with, to aerate the lawn every time you mow...
I wish you well...

You need to be *very* careful with this process. If you make too many holes you risk reaching a type of "critical lack of mass" situation where the holes start to propagate in on themselves, feeding themselves into more and more holes until your entire lawn disappears. Then when you drop the plugs on top of the disappearing lawn the whole thing reaches a crisis point where it becomes a self-sustaining chain reaction, and you risk ending up with your house in India (not China, as has been supposed; look at a globe). On the other hand, if you don't do enough holes then people will laugh at you.
