how do you hang pictures on plaster walls?
Answers:
You can use a nail with ridges on the shaft and nail right into a stud after you have located it with a stud finder. The stud finder uses a magnet to locate nails in the stud which runs vertically (up and down) the wall.
But, without a stud, you can use toggle bolts and hang the picture using the sheet rock as support. Drill a hole with an electric drill first and put the "toggle" into the hole. Then, screw the screw into the toggle until the screw quits turning. I would only use these for medium weight pictures or use four or more for a heavy picture. Sheet rock is not very strong and you risk damaging it. A stud should always be your fist choice.
Of course with small, light pictures you can use regular hangers nailed directly into the wall.
Use felt circles that can be attached to the picture itself to keep it from becoming crooked when somebody shuts the door. Generally, use two hangers which will also serve to keep the picture more stable.
Good luck!!

Use Magic Removable Mounts.
It's like double sided sticky tape but for pictures and posters. They come off clean like post its and are awesome!
straight, i hate crooked pictures dont you
use double side tapes. They can take quite heavy loads too. these are used to hang the panels at exhibitions.
Use a screw with an electric screw driver. Or use very fine finishing nails.
Either you use those heavy duty double adhesive hooks or you can drill a hole on your wall, or for more effects you can put a hook on your ceiling moldings and place a chain or a nylon cord to hold your frames, so that it will appear your frames are floating
Use expansion screws sold at home depot for abut $2.
Make a small X with masking tape on the spot you want to hang the picture. Place the nail directly in the middle of the X. This should hold most lighter weight pictures. Just use regular masking or painter's tape- nothing with super high adhesive or you may pull a little of the wall's finish off if you ever decide to move the picture.
