Fireplace direction please?

I want to turn my gas fireplace into a regular log burning fireplace... any tips, advice, directions? Anywhere online I can move about to find out the best way to do it?
Thanks.

Answers:    Depending on the age gas fire places own low clearances to combustibles compared to conventional FPs, you will definitely want to consult your local building codes on the matter, doing this conversion incorrectly is deeply dangerous. It's probably easier to rip out completely what is in attendance and start over.
Find specs on unit. May not be allowed for that section. The chimney is also probably not rated for solid fuel burning. Verify that also. In standard, wood burning is "fun" for about a month. Then the modernization of burning real wood vanish. It's brings a lot of dirt and smell into the house. If your purpose is to put aside on heating costs, look into an airtight stove or airtight woodburning insert if it's a masonry fireplace.
