1x6 roof sheathing?

I'm getting ready to strip off 3 layers of asphalt shingles from my 1957 Portland, Oregon home. The sheathing is 1x6 T&G. Do I need to cover this with another layer of sheathing like plywood, or can I keep the 1x6 as the base sheathing?

Answers:
if your 1x6 is sound and smooth ,you CAN go over them w/o resheathing! Ive done it dozens of times! instead of buying plywood, buy a heavier 35 yr shingle,,you wont have any problems,,,if there ARE holes and gaps,,cover them with tin first ps i live in salem

Other answers:
If you are planning to use asphalt shingle you will need to cover with plywood or osb. Taking off the 1x4 is your choice. I have left them on and used longer nails 31/2" or 16d box ringshank would do nicely.
