any craft ideas to use those junk c.d.'s that we all get in the mail?

Answers:
To make a small table (bedside table) use super glue to stack them together putting 3 rubber stoppers (forming a triangle) in between cds until it reaches 2-3 ft. high - metallic part facing up. Arrange 4x5 stacks forming a rectangle and place a thick clear glass on top of it

Other answers:
Make a mobile or wind chimes.
Make a mobile or wind chimes.
hang them on the wall with the shiney side outward. it creates a prizm affect when the light shines on them.
You can link them together to make like a curtain (use fishing wire)....or they make great paint palettes too
They do really work as good glass coaster!!
My dogs love them! Frisbee!
Ha ha, actualy I did a project with those when I was little.
Buy some colored foam (from a craft store, you know) and then cut them out in the shape of a fish fin, and get some eyeballs.
Glue the fish fin inbetween two junk cds, bottom(shiney) side out, and add two eyes, and...
Viola! A cd fish!
One thing that comes to mind is mobiles. Or you could break the cds into pieces and make mosaic art using the fronts and backs of the cds.
hang em on a wall with some string!
I don't get them. How do I sign up?
glue the to the wall make something
They make good coasters
u can make like a hover craft thing out of it and u can make like drapes for your windo or a door or u could just throw them all aorund just to have fun!! thats what i do!! and i brake them all cause they're wortless!!
I've heard of someone making clocks out of them.
turn them up-side down and place scented candles in the middle of them and watch the reflections of the wall at dark. kids love this !!
make wind chimes out of them, cover both sides with some kind of paper, then place pictures on them and use as stocking stuffers at Christmas time, or place on your tree, or use them as birthday gifts.
I saw a show, and this guy saved all those C.D.s as a collection. He started collecting them when they first started being sent out, because most of them are destroyed some are quite rare, I guess, and you know what???
That guy sold the collection for over $5,000
cut them up with a sharpe pair of siccors into lttle squares and other similar shapes and put them on the border of a plain mirror with double sided tape it looks great. I did this to a mirror in my hall way and no one believes me , that it's cut up C.D's.......
or if you have children I give my son a collection of them in a C.d case so he would leave my real C.D's alone
No, but, for the CD cases: Use them for photos and group them on the wall. I found this idea in a new book at the library about how to use the computer's photo software.
place candles on shiny side.... light candles. the shiny side reflects light.... and catches the wax. when the candle burns out... use another. it looks really cool in the dark.
You can string them together and hang them like the beaded curtains back in the 60's and 70's
Actually, I take them [and old music cds that are too scratched up to use] and buy some colorful fingernail polish and lightly pour diffrent colors on them, leaving some of the shimmery part., Once they dry they feel really cool and look awesome if you put them on a wall or a ceeling.

Its an awesome project for kids (just make sure you've got cardboard or newspaper under the CD's so you dont ruin your carpet!)

1. Coasters: The obvious answer. Glue a piece of felt to the label side to protect your table top.
Cost | Around 60 cents for a square foot of felt, usually pre-cut at fabric stores.
Time | Under 5 minutes.

2. Ashtray: Cd's are plastic and melt very quickly. Fortunately, they only melt under sustained heat, not the heat of a ciggie being put out. Using a lighter (not a candle, it'll get all sooty), heat the CD on the shiny side (heating the label side makes it burn) and about an inch from the outer edge of the CD until it starts to become soft. Bend with a spoon, or let gravity do the work. Be careful of over-heating the plastic to the melting point, where it becomes a thick, dangerously hot liquid which can: a) burn your dainty skin, b) land on something else, cool, and become a permanent fixture, c) both. Friends have informed me that Cd's can be softened in a toaster oven...I haven't tested this, so use caution. Microwaving, on the other hand, causes the silver in the CD to burn (impressive to watch, but potentially dangerous and smells bad.) Once you’ve molded your CD into shape, be sure to glue something nonflammable (a poker chip is good) to cover the center hole.
Cost | $1.50 for a new lighter.
Time |10 minutes.

3. Christmas Ornaments: Paint, add glitter, or decorate in your own design. Tie a ribbon thru the center, and hang
Cost | $2.00 for ribbon and glitter (varies by design)
Time | 10 minutes

4. Clock: Buy a clock kit from a craft store and follow instructions on package. These are generally simple to make. And the hole is already in the center so there's no drilling.
Cost | $10.00 for the clock kit
Time | 1 hour

--Mobiles, wall collages, wallpaper borders, christmas wreaths, saturn with rings, door screens... The list goes on. Below are a few websites with ideas to keep you busy for days.

Hope this helps. Enjoy.

put them in a plastic or paper bag, hit them with a hammer and make mosaic tiles aout of them. *be careful*
you can attach to a post at the end of your driveway for reflectors/ and of course all of the previous ideas ..i get them too. i hat to throw away things you can also give them to thte young kids with a case to make them feel like they have their own cds.. of course they have to be older like 4 or 5 because the edges ar sharp if broken.
Hang them from fishing line in trees or from posts to scare birds away from your garden - works like a charm!!
My wife uses them as mini scrapbooks. Drill a 1/4" hole near the edge of each CD and put a keyring through them and then put pictures and whatever on them.
Xmas tree ornaments
use em' as fribees or tie string to a bunch on em' and hang em' on ur rear veiw mirror of ur car like the dice.
