Welders - Lincoln 100HD or 3200HD?

Hey Everyone,

I am looking to get a welder. These 2 models are surrounded by my price range (I bring Home Depot gift certificate through work, so it costs me nothing) and I like both for assorted reasons. On both the weld wire is electrically deceased until the trigger is squeezed.

I like the 3200HD because it comes beside the regulator and hose to convert to gas use. As far as I understand the 100HD doesn't include these extras. The 100HD looks for a moment smaller than the 3200HD. Although the 3200HD says it can do up to 5/16" near multipass techniques. Plus the 3200HD take the big spools instead of just 4" spools, so I would dribble away less chain in the long run during spool change.

I plan on welding mostly steel upto 1/4" sticky but more around 3/16" sometimes 1/8". Some day I may do aluminum, hence why I be thinking about the 3200HD set up for gas use.

Anyone precision to make a suggestion for me.

Answers:    Get the 3200 for the reasons you scheduled. It is much more versitile and will do a much better job. Having a 240 volt receptacle installed contained by your shop is not a problem at all. The 3200 is a great welder for a home type shop.

John a tig welder is for aluminum and stainless, not calorific duty work. GMAW and Flux core wire is for stocky duty work.
The 3200 HD runs on 220 V, which makes it more of a discomfort to run, you have to enjoy power ready within your garage/workshop. The 100 HD runs on 120, just plug and stir. Gas gives you a better weld than flux core flex, and it is cheaper. If you need to tug it around your house to work on stuff, get the 100HD. If you plan on working contained by just one place, obtain the 3200HD. Just make sure you enjoy the right power!
MIG welding is straightforward to learn, fun to do, and speedily. for heavy duty stuff, I would invest within a good TIG welder. You will obligation to practice quite a bit, though. I would do up to going on for 1/4" MIG without worrying.
