Are you talking in the region of the light switch covers themselves?? They are straightforward to change out, and no you do not involve to turn off the power, newly don't stick something inside the circuit box itself or you might get zapped!

YOU COULD GET A FATAL JOLT OF ELECTRICITY IF YOU DON'T TURN THE POWER OFF BEFORE DOING ELECTRICAL WORK. IT'S NOT VERY DIFFICULT IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE.

This is an comfortable do it yourself task. Yes turn past its sell-by date the power. Pull the plate off of the switch. There will be two screw that hold the switch in the box. Remove these screw and pull the switch out of the box. Disconnect the wires making sure to look at how they are attached to the prehistoric switch. make a diagram of the connections so you won't forget. Buy the bright switch and reattach the wires and replace the switch and cover plate.

If you are only varying out the switch plates, there is no power involved. Home Depot and Loews hold walls of switchplate covers for you to choose from. Just unscrew the old and attach the new.
I don't recommend anyone to transfer out switches unless I teach them myself. I don't really trust any suggestions any because majority of people don't know the genuine dangers involved. Is it simple? Yes, your rudimentary single pole switch is pretty basic. Two positive nouns and a ground on green screw if provided. Yet the wire itself is extremely exceptional in how you attach it. Also beside multiple wires already in alike switch box you have to consider the density of the wires, the chain nuts and so on, all which donate up to heat and degrade the wiring and switch. Even near those possibilities you are not even getting to the next most adjectives type of switch: a 3way switch. I'll share with you a true story. I have a friend who has his Ph.D and 15+ years sophisticated educational training surrounded by the medical field. He worked beside me almost 2 years.
