Does anyone know if you can dye a substantial hearth rug? I don't want to hire a service, I want to do it myself..?

It's a large nouns carpet, not attached. It is a horrid prevailing conditions sage green. I don't want to spot kit dye but do the entire item. So does anyone know if this is possible??
thanks.

Answers:    An nouns rug is easier to replace than to dye. You would have to hold a working knowledge of the type of fibers and how they adopt color over the color that is already at hand. If the rug is expensive, it would be better to have a professional recommend you or do it if they could. If it is just an averaged priced piece, buy a rug that suits you and skip the mess and hassle.
I don't come up with you'd be able to dye a hearth rug evenly enough. But I enjoy seen runner painted on Trading Spaces or HGTV.
