Plumbing question?

I want to put a new vanity in my bathroom, but I'll need to shorten the pipes. I can't find a vanity as long as my old one. Anyway, the vanity I want is smaller than the one I have.

How do I do this?

There are vanities out there for practically any length... they measure in 3 inch increments (24,27,30,33,36,39.. and so on...). Seach until you find the same size vanity.
One thing to look out for is measure where your pipes are and make sure the vanity you select will work with the location. I have done many vanities that the pipes woud be in the way of drawers...
Try to avoid having to do plumbing... as a novice (which you sound like you are) you are much better getting a plummer or handyman in to do the job... or just get a vanity that works for you.
Take the pipes off, take them to a store and buy shorter ones. I presume you will be using flexible pipes so that they can have some curve and the curves will take up the slack. In other words the new ones should be long enough to make the joints at each end, the one at the wall faucet and the one at the sick faucet. If your old ones are not too old, and are made to bend like new ones, they may be flexible enough to do the job, if the curve needed does not kink the pipe and restrict water flow. Hand tight should be enough to stop any water drips. Good luck.
I think your are referring to the location of the pipes instead of the length? The location of your pipes are okay when they built the bathroom. they located them in accordance to the configuration of your vanity. Now that you decided to change the configuration of your vanity (downsize) you will have to relocate also your supply lines and drain. To do this, i would suggest that you figure out first where your pipes should be in accordance to your new vanity's features ( they are usually on the center or close to center). Mark them and tear out the wall, then relocate your pipes. Quite a job, I will seek help from an experienced fellow.
