What is the best finish for unglazed, terracotta Mex. tile? does anyone know a formula using kerosene?

suggestions have been:polyurathane andJohnsons Wax.

Answers:
Easiest and repairable is boiled Linseed oil...dilute with turpentine about 25% turp to 75% linseed oil...apply and let soak in. Allow about 24 hours to dry. Then apply a coat of linseed oil, and allow to completely dry...keep the coat very thin...should dry within 48 hours or so...will seal the tile, provide a nice finish that can be recoated when it gets scratched. That is the traditional method of sealing sautillo tile. Good luck
