David, It depends on what kind of existing structure you have in place. One of the most practical types of sheds would be with a lean to roof attached to the existing structure just below the structures existing roof line or just under the existing structures gutter overhang, if it has one. You need to consider weight loads, ie; snow if it is applicable. For best support and weather protection use 2" x 6" roof rafters that are attached [through the sidewall of existing structure] to the 2"x4" or directly to the existing roof rafters. If you have a snow load factor it's best to use at least a 2"x6" roof rafter with at least 16" on center spacing or less [12"] if you have an extremely heavy load factor. The sidewalls should only require 2'x4" with 16' on center at appropiate height[ 7'3" finished.Remember to use pressure treated stock where ever touching the ground. Best to consider cement bells at least every 6' of outside perimeter depending on total size of your shed. Use two 2"x 4" for headers over and around door and window frames or one 4'x4'. Walls and roof should be 3/4" exterior plywood. Roofing finished with a good quality 25 or 30 year asphalt shingle to match existing roof as close as possible. Finish for sidewalls is optional depending on your likes and mathing to existing structure. Hope this helps to get you started at least.

You can't "build" a shed. You go out and find the one that's right for you and you put your tool in it and make it yours.
