GreenLight, a powder available at local hardware/walmart store. Highly effective. Spot control with a generic ant spray, but use the powder to kill the source.
If you are looking to kill them or deter them from entering your home, you can bleach your entry ways and leave oatmeal in your window seals. Ants follow scents so if you bleach the area, you remove the smell. The oatmeal, they take back to their ant hills, then when they eat it, it expands in their tummy and kills the little suckers.

Bug spray in the house! Get a bag of ant killer and put it around the foundation of the house. The ants will take the "food" back to the nest and it ends up killing them in time!

I buy and use a product called boric acid to control ants. Its easily purchased (in Indiana at least) at hardware stores, Wal Mart and other places like that. The directions are on the bottle and I have used it for years with good results.
