When you uncovered an "old hardwood "floor what did you do to save on "do it yourself"costs for an o.k job?

I use to work on floors like that when I was in cleaning for apts.When they tore up the floors all they did was sand them down,put a stain on them and a gloss on them(but nothing slippery...Hardware stores are good for aqdvice to what kind to use..Believe me it cost less to do it your self...

depending what was covering the floor?if it was just carpeting then it should be a snap.you can rent a hardwood floor sander at a local rent all company.after sanding refinish and wah-lah a brand new looking floor.

we sanded the bad spots and then used old english to match the floor and it looks great
