what is the fastest and best way to learn how to play the drums like a pro??
Answers:
Lessons or not: practice, practice, practice!! I am a professional musician (guitar and vocals) and know first hand that there are no shortcuts to musical competence. If you love it enough practice will be play, not work.and practice pays off fast!!
Also though, drumming is not for everyone!! If your natural sense of rythmn isn't great no amount of practice will get you there. In this case a different instrument might be more worthwhile to you. If you're meant to be a drummer you will be obssessed with drumming and NOTHING will be able to get you away from it. You gotta really love playing (practicing) and be in it for the long haul, not just a passing interest, to get good.
Keep at it!! Seek out pros to mentor you!! And mostly, practice practice practice!!

Like the people said above practice and lessons, but also listen to a lot of music, especially to drummers. Try and figure out what they're doing and playing. I would suggest to also play as many different styles of music as well, jazz, funk, rock, hip-hop, latin, metal, etc. The more you listen and play the better your ear and feel will get, and your chops and repitoire that you can play will come with time.
Some good drummers to check out for beginners.
Jazz: Art Blakey, Miles Davis
Classic Rock: Ginger Baker (Cream)
Rock: Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine)
Hip-Hop: Any Album but Outkast is definitely fun to jam wit or the Roots.
I'm a drummer, and the only reason i have stopped playing today is because after 3 hours straight playing I realized my left hand(snare hand) was bleeding from the blisters I created, so in a round about way practice. I play in a 10' by 15' storage unit, so the right place helps if you can make some noise. Listen to bands like Led Zeppelin or the who and any jazz band they are fun to start mimicking. Go from there it takes time don't rush.
