How do we put together sure our thermostat is getting power from the breaker box. how to check a breaker box?

Our heating / airconditioner quit working. they said to create sure the thermostat was getting power. I know how to check a fuse but how do you check a breaker?

Answers:    A circuit breaker operate like a muted switch, but a breaker is normally on its side. Its any ON or OFF, and it has a TOGGLE switch. Sometimes a breaker can "Trip" (meaning that something have occured to cause the breaker to turn itself bad. Power surges, and too much current can cause this). You can identify these breakers by; space the breaker panel box, and looking for the ones that have RED showing surrounded by a small window on the breaker itself. Each breaker have one. If you see RED. The breaker has Tripped. All you want to do is turn it off and support on. If the RED goes away, everythings righteous with that breaker. However, if the RED remains, the system that breaker controls have a short and the system must be checked by a professional.

Hope this helps! Cheers! and Best of Luck...
